OF THE MARGINS PRESS

Every story starts somewhere.

Mine started in the margins.

As a teenager, I spent more time filling the margins of my notebooks with story ideas than paying attention to whatever was happening in class. One day my English teacher caught me staring out the window, completely lost in another world. As the bell rang, I expected to be told to pay more attention.

Instead, he smiled and said:

"I don't know where you were just now, but make sure you write it down."

I've never forgotten that and it is perhaps why I am a teacher today. 

Years later, I've had books published by traditional publishers. I've worked with a literary agent. I've won a prestigious writing award. I've experienced the excitement of seeing my books on bookstore shelves, and I've also experienced the disappointment that comes when publishing doesn't go according to plan. For a long time, I believed becoming a "real" writer depended on someone else saying yes.

These days, I see things differently.

Of The Margins Press exists because stories deserve to be written, whether or not they fit neatly into someone else's publishing schedule, marketing plan, or definition of commercial success.

This press is my promise to keep creating, keep publishing, keep learning and to keep building a home for the stories that refuse to stay in the margins. I'm publishing independently through platforms like Amazon KDP and IngramSpark, embracing the opportunities that independent publishing offers while learning everything I can along the way. Every book teaches me something new, and every reader who discovers one of my stories makes the journey worthwhile. If one of those stories finds exactly the person who needed it, then it has done its job.
